Traditions of Braselton exceeds

expectations of homeowners:

The social activities are terrific!

By Carole Townsend

As if the Traditions of Braselton homeowners needed one more reason to fall in love with their community, now they have an entire social committee planning fun and exciting events for their families year-round.

The committee, formed last Fall and consisting of about 13 members, kicked off their inaugural event last year with a Children’s Halloween Parade. Children got their faces painted, went on a “haunted” hayride and painted their own pumpkins. The kids had a great time and loved all the fun they had right in their own neighborhood.

To ring in the holiday season, the social committee planned what turned out to be a very popular cookie exchange. It was a great way for new neighbors to meet other residents and for families to share their own family traditions. The cookie exchange will definitely be an annual event!

Some activities bring families together in more humanitarian ways, such as the toy drive and Christmas celebration last winter. Traditions of Braselton families collected toys for less fortunate families and donated them to the Jackson County Holiday Connection. Residents also sponsored two families, providing all of their holiday needs. During this same event, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in style – on a hay wagon – and delighted children by talking with them and taking their “letters to Santa.” The entire event was topped off by roasting marshmallows and singing Christmas carols.

The height of the holiday celebrations had to be the Holiday Meet & Greet. New neighbors got the chance to meet other homeowners and enjoy great food and wonderful entertainment.

Since these first successful events that were held toward the end of ’06, Traditions of Braselton homeowners and their children have enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, a terrific kickoff of the swimming season, a huge community garage sale and the first of many “movies under the stars.” In September, a community walk/run for charity is also planned. There’s always something fun going on in this fabulous group of communities.

“The minute we started these social events, it was phenomenal. We had no idea how many kids live here! We’ve had a great response from the homeowners,” said Carole Welch, a member of the social committee. “This is a great community. We have families with young children, families with teenagers and empty-nesters. It’s a great mix.”

Traditions of Braselton has earned a reputation for uncompromising excellence, designed with family-friendly, upscale elegance in every aspect. The golf club is already legendary in metropolitan Atlanta. If golf is not your forte, developer Braselton Land recently announced the addition of a second swim complex, increased nature trails and multiple pocket parks. The tennis complex and team are ALTA certified. The addition of a social committee dedicated to families, their children and the community of residents is simply the cherry on top of the cake. Who could ask for more?
